Pink grapefruit & basil sangria
Hello,
Springtime in Oregon seems to have finally made an appearance (maybe!) In it’s honor here’s a sunny, light and refreshing little something to sip on!
As often as possible we try to experiment with classic and new cocktail recipes. Recently we discovered Fee Brothers Grapefruit Bitters, and got inspired to make a bevy of beverages with it! The clear favorite was the pink grapefruit & basil sangria. It’s subtle, refreshing and delish!
Amounts are to taste and not exact…just experiment and play around!
Pink Grapefruit & Basil Sangria
1 cheap bottle of white wine (we used Charles Shaw Chardonnay from Trader Joe’s)
1/4 of vodka (or brandy)
handful of basil leaves (6 is about right)
sugar to taste (about 1/4 c)
1 juicy pink grapefruit
6+ dashes of Fee Brothers grapefruit bitters
apple juice (maybe 1 c)
sparkling water
ice
Muddle the basil leaves with the sugar and the juice of half of the grapefruit. Put the mixture into a pitcher and add the bottle of wine, vodka, bitters, apple juice and the sections of grapefruit from the other half. Stir, taste, adjust sweetness. Pour over ice into a pretty glass & top off with a little sparkling water. Enjoy out on the patio!
xoxo,
